Heroes Rule

Hello everyone and welcome to Monday. That means it’s time to talk some Star Wars. I’ve been doing my favorite character countdown recently, but I’ve decided I wanted to change it up a little. With that in mind, I would like to take the time to list the top five heroes in the Star Wars galaxy. With only five slots available, there’s bound to be a favorite left off. As always, this is simply my opinion. Without further ado:

5. Princess Leia- A young woman that stands by her convictions, Leia is the greatest female hero in the galaxy. Not content to stand back and let the men do all the heavy lifting, Leia was instrumental in defeating the Empire. The first hero we meet in the saga, she is the female hero all others are compared to.

Most Heroic Deed: Not selling out the Alliance to Vader and Tarkin

4. Han Solo- If it were a coolest hero contest, Han would win. Cocky but confident, Solo is one of the best pilots around. He’s also loyal, proving himself for his friends over and over again.

Most Heroic Deed: Coming back for the final run on the first Death Star

3. Yoda- The Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, Yoda is one of the light side’s greatest champions. Despite his small stature, he is one of the most formidable foes the dark side has ever encountered. Yoda’s rank among the heroes of the galaxy is beyond question. And he’s one of the greatest teachers of all time. Even if he does get frustrated sometimes.

Most Heroic Deed: Saving Obi Wan and Anakin from death rather than pursuing Dooku.

2. Obi Wan Kenobi- The ultimate Jedi. There isn’t a character in the lore that experiences as much loss on the screen as Obi Wan. He loses his friends, his brothers in arms, his master, and everything else. But rather than allow that loss to define him, he doesn’t betray his convictions. Instead, he remains true to himself and the memory of his friends. And he always had the high ground.

Most Heroic Moment: Sacrificing his life for Han, Luke, and Leia to escape on the Death Star.

1. Luke Skywalker- THE hero of the saga, Luke is the greatest of them all. He is our surrogate, and we journey with him through his ups and downs, successes and failures, and a host of other situations he encounters. We also realize he is as true to his beliefs as his mentors were, as he refuses to join the dark side and instead believes Vader could be redeemed.

Most Heroic Moment: Throwing away his lightsaber and proclaiming himself a Jedi, inviting the Emperor to do his worst and serving as the catalyst for Vader’s redemption.

That’s my list. As I said, with only five slots, I know I’ve left quite a few heroes out. Sound off in the comments and let me know who your favorite is. Until next time…..
