Hello everyone and welcome to Monday. That means it’s time to talk Star Wars. Today, I would like to continue talking about my favorite characters. Today, I’d like to talk about the mighty Chewbacca.
Chewie is Han’s sidekick and co-pilot. He is indeed an imposing figure, his past shrouded in mystery when we first meet him. His gruff exterior towards his companions other than Han slowly melts away. We see him become fond of both Luke and Leia, and we realize he’s willing to lay down his life for them as well. He also becomes a vital member of the Rebel Alliance, being instrumental in their victory over the Empire.
Who doesn’t love Chewie? He may look like a walking carpet, but he has a heart of gold. His loyalty is unquestionable, and he is willing to die for his closest friends. I’ve liked Chewbacca ever since his first game against R2, when Han cautions them to let the Wookiee win. Also, he has one of the coolest weapons in the saga with his bowcaster. Of all the characters I see in the sequel trilogy, Chewbacca is easily the one I feel most sorry for. He loses all of his friends, and really seems to only serve the purpose of tugging on our heartstrings. It’s almost like the directors have something against him. But that’s not the Chewbacca I think of. I think of the one on the Death Star, charging down a hallway with Han. That’s the kind of friend he was. Following his friends no matter the odds.
Those are my thoughts for this week. Let me know what you guys think of Chewbacca. I’ll talk to you all again next time. Until then…..
